Top 10 Sarees To Lust After At Lakmé Fashion Week

by Editors

There’s nothing more we love than seeing the 9-yard drape gracing the runway at Lakmé Fashion Week. This time at the winter festive 2018 showcase, a plethora of designers interpreted their version of sarees into gorgeous, elegant pieces we wish magically appeared in our closets. Here’s our top 10 saree picks from the designers at fashion week that you shouldn’t miss:

1. Gaurang Shah:
This rich jewel-toned saree with contrasting moss-green brocade blouse is just the reason why our hearts pounded heavily during the showcase of the collection – Savitri. From the genius colour combination to the intricate work all over, the brilliant Banarasi weave encapsulates everything a traditional dresser can hope for in a drape.

2. RmKV silks present Sunita Shanker:
The show-stopper piece at Sunita Shanker’s runway took our breath away! Aside from the epitome of grace – Sushmita Sen donning it, the colour play and styling of the look caught our attention. This is anything but your-regular-silk saree and we couldn’t have loved it more from the collection ‘Re-crafting Traditional Silks.’

3. Ka Sha :
The indigo saree from Ka-Sha depicting the craftsmanship of Kota Doriya weavers instantly made the cut to the top sarees at LFW. The fabric is a blend of fine silk and cotton and featured a unique check-like pattern. The added ruffles with gota work to the pallu portrayed a brilliant styling trick of a scarf drape. Needless to say, this saree made a permanent place in our hearts.

4. Arpita Mehta:
Arpita Mehta’s collection ‘La Fleur’ had no dearth of chic and flirty sarees that instantly connected with everyone, especially the millennials. The show-stopper piece worn by Karisma Kapoor was a quick fix to a sheer black saree craving. The saree was styled with a sheer cape that only intensified the drama and finesse it brought on the runway at the moment. Definitely, this number carries all the beautiful enigma we need in our closet!

5. Abraham & Thakore:
The saree that we picked from the collection #CocktailsAndSamosas will complete the shine you need in your life. The all-brocade exquisite piece teamed up with a sequins top and belted with a black ribbon can be easily identified as a masterpiece from Abraham & Thakore’s winter festive show. Don’t you agree?

6. AM:PM:
Ankur and Priyanka Modi’s interpretation of a saree drape was seen in an enchanting, all-black piece mastered carefully with a sharp silhouette and pleat detailing. This number is befitting for a woman who loves to balance heritage with a futuristic twist.

7. Anushree Reddy:
The saree that took us back to our prom days wishing this piece existed then, is the fiery number from Anushree Reddy’s ‘Sitara’ collection. The dainty ruffles, sheer blouse with embellishments and the colour red brought all the oomph one look needs. Prom might have gone but Valentine’s Day is not too far from the horizon!

8. Vriksh by Gunjan Jain:
We couldn’t resist this handwoven saree from the collection ‘Yogini’ inspired by the Yogini cult of Odisha. The handloom khadi textile in tussar silk draped in an experimentative way highlights the fact that a saree is timeless and you can have fun with this traditional weave. This is an instant bookmark for the upcoming festive season, ladies.

9. Rajesh Pratap Singh:
What’s a roundup of top 10 sarees without a chanderi masterpiece? Rajesh Pratap Singh’s collection ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ showcased this saree that looked absolutely breathtaking juxtaposed with a brocade blouse. The saree with intricate and skilled craftsmanship is just the statement piece your wardrobe needs for the decades to come.

10. SVA:
Sonam and Paras Modi left no stone unturned to bring us the best of the sarees from their collection ‘Merlot.’ Our favourite is the plum-marsala shaded georgette saree with silver detailing on the border that flowed like a dream on the runway. The unique colour scheme with such a fluid drape made this look something we would crave at a lovely sundowner mehendi event, amirite ladies?
